Most early dating friction is not about attraction, it is about mismatched communication. One person texts paragraphs, the other sends thumbs-ups. One raises problems on Tuesday, the other is still quietly bothered on Friday. This quiz puts you in realistic situations, being left on read, disagreeing mid-date, needing to apologise, and scores four separate scales: how direct you are, how much you share, whether you raise issues, and whether you are a texter or a talker. The combination is your communication style, named and explained.
How the communication style quiz works
Pick a ten-question quick read, an eighteen-question standard run, or twenty-six questions for the sharpest picture. Every question is a concrete situation with answers that push one or more of the four scales. There are no right answers: being reserved is not worse than being expressive, and texting is not worse than calling. What matters is knowing your defaults, because the people you date will calibrate to them whether you name them or not.
The four scales
Directness is whether you say the plain version or wrap it carefully. Expression is how much of yourself you hand over, and how fast. Conflict is whether you raise issues early or keep the peace. Channel is where you communicate best, typing or talking. Each scale resolves independently, so you can be a direct reserved talker or a diplomatic expressive texter, and the result treats each combination on its own terms.
The eight styles
Your three most decisive scales combine into a named style: The Straight Shooter, The Cool Head, The Open Book, The Minimalist, The Careful Diplomat, The Peacekeeper, The Charmer, or The Slow Reveal. Each comes with how it reads to dates, where it genuinely shines, where it causes friction, the styles it clicks with and clashes with, and specific moves that work with your style rather than against it.
Best taken in pairs
The single most useful way to use this quiz is with the person you are dating: both take it, compare styles, and read each other's friction sections. Most recurring arguments are not incompatibilities, they are two defaults colliding, and naming them changes them. Your result link opens your exact style, so sharing takes one tap. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
